About This Page
The same moment, counted in different ways.
This page shows today's date in several of the world's calendars, side by side. Each card gives the date in one calendar and a timer for how far that calendar's year has run. Further down you can see your own birthday in every calendar, and a countdown to major festivals.
Calendars count years differently because they begin from different events and measure the year in different ways. Some count from a religious or historical moment, such as the Hijra in the Islamic calendar or the birth of Guru Nanak in the Nanakshahi calendar. Some follow the sun, some follow the moon, and several follow both, adding a leap month now and then to stay in step with the seasons.
No calendar here is treated as the main one. All of them are shown in the same design and in no order of importance. The dates are worked out in your browser from standard calendar rules, so where a community fixes its dates by local observation, such as sighting the new moon, the real date can differ by a day.

Questions
About the calendars, the dates and your data.
Why is it a different year in different calendars?
Each calendar counts from its own starting point and measures the year in its own way: by the sun, by the moon, or by both. So the same day carries a different year number in each of them.
Why might the Islamic date here differ from my local date?
This page uses the Umm al-Qura calendar, which is calculated in advance. Many communities begin each month when the new crescent moon is sighted locally, so the date where you live can be a day earlier or later.
Is my name or date of birth sent anywhere?
No. They are saved only in your own browser, so the page can remember them next time. They are never sent to our servers or to anyone else, and the "Clear my birthday" button removes them.
Where do the festival dates come from?
They are taken from published calendars for 2026 to 2028, mainly timeanddate.com and Drik Panchang. Dates that depend on sighting the moon, or that are not yet confirmed, are marked "expected" and can move by a day. Countdowns run to midnight in your own time zone; several traditions begin the day at sunset the evening before.
